Submarines For Yachts
It is now possible to carry a fully operational submersible aboard a yacht as little as 20 metres in length. With many yachts already equipped with dive facilities and compressors and large spaces for tenders with a crane, the operation of a submersible becomes relatively simple.
A submersible could be stored on deck in a typical space designed for a tender, or even in the tender garage with a maximum length of less than 5 metres needed for storage. A variety of mechanisms can be employed to enable easy launch and recovery of the submersible.
Various options exist from 1 seat models to 3 seats and more, with a typical range of 40 metres up to 300 metres with very high spec models being able to achieve depths of over 10,000 metres (for specialist adventurers!).
Submarines bring a whole new world of exploration to yacht owners who typically spend their time in clear waters and regularly go diving. The benefits of submarines are varied and include:
- the ability to dive together without the risk of being separated
- no clunky loading of air tanks on your back
- being able to communicate to each other and share the experience in a more wholesome way
- enable regular underwater exploration for those who perhaps do not have a scuba license or are not as confident as other members in the dive party
The submarines come with a full initial onboard training programme with ongoing shore based support. Simple maintenance programmes can also be provided.
